Indiana’s Big Ten Tournament run ended today as the Hoosiers lost 79-71 to the Wisconsin Badgers in the quarterfinals. Wisconsin was able to get out to a 25-15 lead early thanks to some hot 3-point shooting, which never ended, and though the Hoosiers cut the deficit to one on numerous occasions, they were never able to get over the hump.
The story of the game was Rob Wilson, a seldom-used senior who exploded for 30 points. Indiana could have done a better job contesting his 3s after it was clear he was on fire, but ultimately you just have to tip your cap to Wilson, and to Wisconsin, for being the better team that made more plays today.
But the best news is that come Sunday Indiana will be among the 68 teams announced for the NCAA Tournament. Finally. With most expecting the Hoosiers to nab a #4 seed. So be disappointed about the loss, but Wisconsin was simply the better team today, and bright, exciting times are on the immediate horizon for the Hoosiers.
We broke down all of this and more on the latest edition of The Assembly Call, which included a stop-in from friend of the show Galen, who you know from Crimson Cast.
