• How to vote in the Greatest IU Basketball Player of All-Time Bracket?
Welcome Hoosier fans to today’s edition of Banner Morning — your daily rundown of IU basketball news and notes.
I’m Cameron Drummond and it’s time to choose the greatest IU basketball player of all time.
While no NCAA Tournament will take place this season, brackets are all the rage online at this time of year, and in particular given the lack of live sports on offer to the public.
So Assembly Call and Inside The Hall have partnered together to create some fun distractions for Indiana fans during this difficult time.
This past weekend marked the start of Assembly Call’s live rewatch series highlighting past NCAA Tournament games, all of them victories, featuring Indiana, and the same time period also saw the start of The Greatest IU Basketball Player of All-Time bracket.
The premise is simple. Who is the greatest Indiana basketball player to ever lace up his shoes?
A field of 68 former Hoosiers, no current players were considered, began the competition last week.
The four regions of the bracket comprise four key areas of IU basketball history: The Pre-Knight period, the start of Bob Knight’s tenure until 1985, Bob Knight’s tenure after 1985 and the post-Knight years.
Each region also featured a play-in game between a pair of No. 16 seeds, which was decided last week using the same method all matchups will be decided using: A Twitter poll conducted from the Inside The Hall Twitter account.
Those initial winners were Lou Watson in the Pre-Knight region, Jim Thomas in the Knight pre-85 region, Michael Lewis in the Knight post-85 region and Troy Williams in the post-Knight region.
Each day there are matchups to vote on, Twitter polls exist for a maximum of 24 hours before they close and voting is therefore final, there will be an article posted to Inside The Hall dot com.
Click on the article to find more information about the players featured in the bracket, the criteria used to select them, the criteria you should use to make your selections and an overview of how the tournament has gone so far.
Today’s matchups will be the Round of 64 selections in the Pre-Knight region, and each region will have their Round of 64 matchups conducted by the end of the week.
So get ready Hoosier fans, you’re going to have some tough choices ahead. Good luck and we hope you enjoy getting to select the greatest IU basketball player of them all!
