This was a mature win for the Indiana basketball program.
Michigan State, ranked 13th and playing its best basketball of the season, came into Assembly Hall looking to hand Indiana its second home loss of the conference season. With an experienced point guard, size down low, and athletic wing scorers, the Spartans certainly had the ability to do so.
But Indiana never let Michigan State get control of the game, kept its composure late, and won a tough 75-70 battle to stay tied atop the conference.
Victor Oladipo was an All American today. He led Indiana in scoring and energy, and his 22 deflections turned into 6 steals, which turned into a number of easy buckets.
Cody Zeller struggled most of the day, but he played like an All American at winning time, scoring, rebounding, and taking a charge in the final two minutes to ice the victory.
Indiana needed to take care of business at home against a really good team, and they did just that. We broke it all down, with a look ahead to Purdue and Michigan, on another victorious episode of The Assembly Call.
