Welcome to another edition of 6-Banner Saturday, where we highlight the six most essential IU basketball stories of the past week.
After a weekend home beatdown at the hands of Michigan, Indiana traveled to Minneapolis for a battle with the Gophers on Wednesday. The game got off to an ugly start, but the Hoosiers were able to take advantage of an ice-cold Minnesota offense and actually led most of the way. But the defense relented late, and the Gophers’ Akeem Springs banked in the game-winner with 3.2 seconds remaining.
Indiana is now in quite a rut. Just to get back to .500 in the conference, they will have to win out. But there are plenty of other, more positive stories around Hoosier Nation.
In this week’s edition:

The Hoosiers gave a much more solid effort in Minneapolis, but it wasn’t enough to secure their first victory since beating Penn State in three overtimes.
Indiana now stands at 15-12 on the season, with just a 5-9 mark in conference play. But it could’ve been different. As Greg Gottfried wrote in his column for the IDS, all Indiana needed late against the Gophers was to secure one rebound.
Considering how some of Indiana’s recent losses have gone, that’s at least some small step toward progress.
